Chess recycling

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Chess works with a local company called The Green Reaper for recycling of all office consumables including paper, cardboard, cans plastic and printer toner cartridges.

Chess has also employed a variety of waste minimisation techniques such as reducing the amount of waste and reusing materials that would previously have been disposed of.

This can be anything from using jotters made from scrap paper rather than buying notebooks to offering old, unwanted mobile stock as prizes in incentives and unused office furniture to Chess people for their home studies.

All computers in Chess have two sided print as the default setting which considerably reduces the paper used for everyday business printing. And when the computers themselves are 'retired' the greatest care is taken to ensure that the memory cards are removed so they can be reused and the remaining components are recycled properly.

Since working with The Green Reaper, and implementing these simple waste reduction measures, Chess’ waste to landfill has reduced by around 50 per cent saving it a considerable amount of money.

The implementation of these measures also brings about clear benefits to Chess in terms of reduced overhead costs and improvements in efficiencies across the business.
